JPoe: 30 Years of Oklahoma Hiphop

The Voice of Oklahoma, General JPoe, has been in the Oklahoma music scene for 30+ years. From battle rap, DJ’ing and hosting to just being a supporter of the scene, he has played almost every role imaginable in the industry.

“I got my hands in everything.. I’m just sitting back playing the guy behind the guy.”

JPoe has seen hundreds of artists come and go over the years. He’s had the opportunity to witness early Oklahoma Hiphop movements like Nitro Entertainment and Sav Squad, to today’s budding groups like Gap Gang and 88REC.

If there’s anyone who understands the history of OKC rap, it’s JPoe.

The Voice of the O is bigger than rap, though. He is a leader and a strong supporter of anything that brings positivity and growth to his home state.

As Jpoe recovers from recent health battles, he continues to be a staple in Oklahoma’s Hiphop community, pushing for it to reach its potential.
