SZA's 2022 album, SOS, was long awaited with a five year gap between it and her previous album, Ctrl, released in 2017. SZA’s fans had been begging for new music from the Love Galore singer.

The album has now spent four straight weeks at #1 on the BillBoard hot 200, and according to BillBoard, is the first album by a woman to spend its first four weeks at number one in a year since Adele’s "30". It is also the first R&B album by a woman to spend four weeks at #1 since Alicia Key's  "As I Am." In its fourth week, it sold 125k copies.

When she announced that SOS was on the way, fans became giddy to get what they’d been asking for for years. But when the album dropped, there was a lot of mixed emotion about whether or not the album was too toxic. Some people were even saying that the music was good but they couldn't resonate with it because of this toxicity.

Of course, this is a personal preference and the project continues to dominate the charts.
