The day we lost the Black Mamba weighs heavy on the hearts of millions. Most of us know exactly what we were doing when we received the news.

That TMZ notification was so abrupt and final. Kobe Bryant dead at 41. Helicopter crash. The app basically broke from the traffic. I just sat there and cried. To this day, I’m struggling to find a silver lining. They went out horrifically.

In his interview with Big Boy TV, Kevin Gates goes into deep explanation about his evolution, from changing his health habits to changing his mindset. While on the topic, he brought up the death of the legendary Kobe Bryant and how he received a negative feeling from the world that kept him from leaving the house that day.

“I told my tattoo artists… I said mane, I don’t feel like we should leave the house today. We just need to stay inside.” Kevin went on, “he died 7 minutes from my house… I made videos from the mountain.”

As the interview continued, the Bread Winner artist spoke more about his strong spirituality, how much it’s helped him grow and become a better person, and his 2022 project Khaza. He even shared a similar story about how he & Nipsey Hussle had spoke only a few days before his passing. The story of Kobe was only a small piece of an enlightened, educational conversation.
