BigXthaPlug has created what some have labeled as the state of Texas’ new anthem with, “Texas.” It’s been everywhere, commercials, sports team videos, and more as it’s racked up over 30 million views on the YouTube video alone. While the song has only been certified gold so far, it’s proved to be a song that’ll be around for a long time.

We spoke with BigXthaPlug during our time in Austin for SXSW 2024 and asked him how it felt to have a song that was going to be around for generations to come.

“I’m just glad I’m able to feed my kids and my kids’ kids,” responded the AMAR rapper, “that song right there’s gonna do it.”

All artists dream of creating an anthem that sticks around forever, and for BigXthaPlug and “Texas,” that dream has become reality.

The Dallas rapper’s run of hits isn’t over either as he just landed on the Billboard 100 for the first time with “Mmhmm” debuting at 93 and sitting at 80 at the time this article was written.

The Rise is in Progress

We met BigXthaPlug earlier this year while he was in Oklahoma City with Kevin Gates for the Ceremony Tour. We didn’t get to speak much as we met him in passing but the young star took the stage with massive energy. BigXthaPlug is one of the hottest out of his state and continues to spread his name as he grows from a southern superstar to a nationally recognized name.
